Online meeting of the section by topic “Myths and predictions of the Kazakh people about the weather”
Nomadic Kazakhs from ancient times predicted the weather based on various natural phenomena and established their economy according to these forecasts. By signs, they made their forecasts and gave names to some manifestations of the weather. Kazakhs watched the movement of heavenly bodies. Constant movement in the endless steppes taught them to orient themselves well in the cardinal points, to find their way by the stars, to accurately determine the location of tracts, wells, pastures.
Within the framework of the conference "Farabi Alemi" on April 7, 2021, students of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology organized an online meeting of the circle on the topic "Folk omens about the weather."
During the online meeting of the circle, students shared their thoughts on this topic, told folk signs that they heard and know from their grandfathers and grandmothers.
They also talked about scientists studying folk myths about weather forecasting, about books about folk signs. They also talked about interesting weather superstitions and other peoples of the world, educational quizzes on weather phenomena were organized.
