On April 15, 2021, within the framework of the pedagogical practice, 1st year PhD students of the specialty «8D05301-Chemistry» Nurtazina N.D., Bulybaev M.E., Isabaev N.N. and C.Ch.Sc., Associate Professor Syzdykova L.I. of the Chair of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology held an educational event-discussion «7R или жизнь в стиле концепции Zero Waste». The event was attended by bachelor students, master students and doctoral students, as well as teachers of the chair.

During the discussion, the concept of Zero Waste was discussed, which is aimed at eco-friendly consumption of natural resources, minimalism and minimization of waste, the rejection of unnecessary and disposable items. Head of the Environmental Research Laboratory of «Institute of High Technologies» LLP of NAC «Kazatomprom» JSC Panova E.N. took part in the event as an invited guest. She told the participants about the 7 basic principles of the Zero Waste concept and her personal experience in waste management and conscious consumption.

The issues of correct sorting of various types of garbage were raised. The organizers shared useful information about the addresses and contacts of waste collection points for recycling in Almaty. They also talked about eight Instagram-stores where you can buy environmentally friendly products and things. The participants were presented with 17 good habits that help in everyday life to reduce the negative impact on the environment.
