Bermaganbetova Kymbat and Amanbayeva Zhansaya took part in the city round of the competition of scientific works in natural and mathematical disciplines "Daryn". The work was carried out under the guidance of a teacher in chemistry of school No. 198 Tanabayeva Bayan, as well as teachers of the department of physical chemistry, catalysis and petrochemistry of Al-Farabi KazNU Rakhym A.B. and Professor Seilkhanova G.A. The work is devoted to the study of soil ecology using physical and chemical methods. The students studied soil samples in various zones: in the school yard, in the park, near the road. Experiments were carried out to determine the pH of the samples, the content of heavy metals, phosphorus and nitrogen. The results showed the unsatisfactory condition of the soils in the study area, which indicates the pollution of the city's ecology due to anthropogenic impact. During a pandemic, the study of ecology is especially relevant, because environmental pollution affects human immunity and resistance to various pathogens of infectious diseases. Conducting scientific work by schoolchildren of this kind helps to foster awareness and respect for nature in the younger generation, and university teachers are always happy to help and share their experience.
