On May 26, 2022, the official visit of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Republic of Kyrgyzstan took place. During the visit, the opening of a branch of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi in Kyrgyzstan took place. To develop and strengthen cooperation in the field of education and science, the Department of Physical Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology organized and held the first international Olympiad "Physical Chemist-2023" on February 22-23, 2023. The subject Olympiad was devoted to the 90th anniversary of the honourable Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ospanov Khabibulla Kusainovich. The Olympiad was attended by students of chemical specialties of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi and the Kyrgyz State University named after I. Arabaev.

It was held in an online format, by two stages: the implementation of test and calculation tasks. Students of KazNU Zhaksybay Bagashar, Ergeshov Maksat were awarded diplomas of I, II degrees with material incentives of 100,000 and 75,000 tenge, respectively, the 3rd place was shared by a student of KazNU Mukanov Askar and a student of I. Arabaev KSU Tashmatova Ogulay (50,000 tenge each). Participants of the Olympiad received certificates. The sponsor of the Olympiad was Karlygash Kabidenovna Aldabergenova (Aubakirova), a graduate of the Department of Physical Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, Kazakh National University.
