Seminar on Improving the Skills of Members of the University Social Responsibility Network of (USRN)

TOWARDS A VIRTUOUS SOCIETY: BUILDING SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY INTO UNIVERSITY SOCIAL AND HUMANITARIAN CENTERS ACTIVITIES

The workshop with the participation of leaders of the University Social Responsibility Network (USRN) at the international level is designed to promote the establishment of modern multifunctional universities on the way to a virtuous society whose main mission is to fulfill the intellectual, social, cultural and educational functions, strengthen the diversity of social work practices, and volunteer movement to promote civil liability and trust in people, social institutions.

Participants: Alison Lloyd, Co-Chair of the Executive Committee, University Social Responsibility Network; Igor Rogov, Deputy Executive Director, Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy; Faisal Azaiza, Dean, Faculty of Social Welfare and Health Sciences, University of Haifa; Min Fan, Program Officer, Beijing Normal University; Martina Jordaan, Senior lecturer, University of Pretoria; Hok Bun Ku, Director, China Research and Development Network, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Dongwoo Song, Team Leader, Institute for Global Engagement & Empowerment (IGEE), Yonsei University; Fernando Palacio, Program Special Senior Lecturer, Kyoto University; Heads of the department, faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University; heads of the departments, professors and teaching staff of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The workshop programme includes presentations by participants from the University Social Responsibility Network (USRN); discussion of social responsibility practices (Sessions 1,2,3,4); visits to the Public Foundation "Ana Uyi" ("Mother 's House"), Public Foundation "Institute of Equal Rights and Equal Opportunities of Kazakhstan", Shelter for victims of domestic violence "ARASHA"; familiarization with the Situation Management Center and the Center of Green Technologies of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University, cultural tours and informal communication. Participants exchange views and experience of the university network, their social responsibility in creating a virtuous society, the practice of cooperation with civil society institutions.
