Brainstorming «Dialogue Platform OIS-15»

The first brainstorming «Dialogue Platform OIS-15» will be held in Almaty on November 19, at which representatives of the countries of the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will discuss issues of scientific and innovative integration, as well as ways to solve problems that impede the development of science, technology and innovation in Muslim countries. The leading University of the country - Al-Farabi KazNU acted as co-organizer of the international event.

The development of scientific and technological potential is one of the priority issues on the agenda of the Summits and Councils of the OIC member countries. At the first Summit on scientific and technical issues, which was held in Astana in September 2017, the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, proposed the creation of an « Dialogue Platform OIS-15» to discuss the reasons that impede the progress of Muslim countries, to develop practical measures and proposals to assist OIC member-states in their efforts to develop science, technology and innovation.

A special resolution was adopted at the 46th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers in March 2019 in Abu Dhabi. During the session, the Committee of Ministers for Scientific and Technical Cooperation (COMSTECH) has been invited to closely cooperate with the Government of Kazakhstan and the OIC General Secretariat in preparing the concept and mechanism for the creation and functioning of the « Dialogue Platform OIC-15» with the active involvement of all OIC member states.

The General Secretariat of the OIC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, taking into account the scientific and innovative potential and mutually beneficial partnership, chose KazNU as the co-organizer of the first session «Dialogue Platform OIS-15». During a major international event, it is planned to discuss issues of scientific and innovative development and integration that are relevant for OIC member countries, jointly develop recommendations and ways to solve problems with representatives of the scientific community.

The event will bring together representatives of OIC member countries, as well as international organizations: the Committee of Ministers for Scientific and Technical Cooperation (COMSTECH), the Center for Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF), OIC Institute for Food Security, ISESCO, etc.
