The scientific work at the faculty was started under the direction the Academician of the Kazakh SSR Academy of Sciences A.P.Polosuhin. The first post- graduate student of the facultchy was M.F.Avazbakieva. She worked at the KazSU from 1938 till 1986. She was an assistant teadur, senior teacher, assistant professor, biological faculty decan and head of the chair of human and animal physiology from 1947 to 1981.

M.F.Avazbakieva is an honored worker in the field of science of Kazakhstan, the founder of ecological physiology in Kazakhstan. Her studies are devoted to the major physiological functions, work ability and endurance of humans and animals under high mountains and desert. The conditions results of this scientific research have formed the bases of numerous articles and two monographies – The Influence of of Kazakhstan and Kirghizia climate on the human body" (1958), "Sketches on Climatophisiology" (1974), which are reference books for physiologists up to this day.

From 1981 to 1990 the head of the chair chair of human and animal physiology was Dusembin H.D., the Professor, Ccorresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences. The theory on stimulation and inhibition of lactation he developed has gained wide recognition among professionals. His research carry both a fundamental, and applied character in the area of neirohumoral regulation of lactation, endocrinology, ecological physiology, adaptation of the body to extreme conditions.
