On March 19th Journalism Faculty had the “Open Doors Day”. From 10 AM to 5 PM future students were able to get interesting information from chiefs and teachers of the Faculty.
Dean Galiya Zhunusovna Ibrayeva and heads of the six Cathedras have responded to schoolchildren’s questions. Current students of Journalism Faculty also have shared their opinions. Students also have showed schoolchildren their own creations: printed articles, short videos and comics. Master student Olga Malysheva has made a cartoon about history of mass-media – especially for children.
During that day Faculty was visited by circa 60 future students: pupils of 10th and 11th grades. Some schools have sent groups of pupils, some children have come along with their parents, and some have come on their own – just like real students.
Among visiting schoolchildren were pupils, who already were at the Faculty and took part in the competition, which was organized by Journalism Faculty and “Druzhniye rebjata” and “Ulan” newspapers. Future student generally were interested in how to enroll the Faculty: which exams will should they take, what should they know in order to do that?
When the conversation has come to an end, pupils received special forms, which schoolchildren have filled and approve their intention to become Journalism Faculty students.
Once again “Open Doors Day” has illustrated schoolchildren’s great interest to the Journalist profession and their intention to study in the leading University of the country. Teachers of the Faculty are intended to help future students further. There will be “Young Correspondents Forum” on March 31st at KazNU Journalism Faculty, and all willing to take part are welcome.
