The cultural program dedicated to the Indian holiday of lights "Diwali" was held by teachers and students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies and students of the "Hindi class" at the Embassy of the Republic of India in Kazakhstan, Almaty.

Mr. Martin Ceariac Clemens the Consul of the representative office of India in Almaty, Chairman of Tengri Bank Dinesh Kumar Harjal, President of Indian chamber of commerce Mr. Tara Chand Nehra and Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies Mr. Yktyar Paltore were invited to the event.

This event can be considered an active work on the rapprochement of our peoples, and the demonstration of our knowledge and love for India. Friendly cooperation between Kazakhstan and India is confirmed by the cooperation of KazNU with such universities of India as Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Milia Islamia, Delhi University in New Delhi. Students of the department of Indology are trained in the above-mentioned universities in the faculties of political science, philology, history, international relations for a period of one to four years, and can also receive grants for studies in magistracy and doctoral studies.

It should be noted that not only in Kazakhstan there is an interest in studying the Hindi language, but also in India they are also learning the Kazakh language, as evidenced by the opening since March 2008 at the Jamia Millia Islamia University of the Center for Kazakh Language and Kazakhstan Studies.

During the concert program, we heard warm applause, words of gratitude and pride for the fact that our students speak Hindi very well, know the traditions and culture of India well, and also sing Indian songs, dance Indian dances.
