The rector of al-Farabi KazNU Galym Mutanov met with the rector of the vice-rector of Istanbul University Aidyn Orhan Janbolat.

In his welcoming speech, the rector of KazNU Galym Mutanov noted the kinship between Turkey and Kazakhstan, stressing a willingness to cooperate with the Istanbul University. "To date, al-Farabi KazNU has partnered with 21 institutions of higher education of Turkey. In the framework of academic mobility programs Mevlana Exchange of al-Farabi KazNU carries out the mobility of students and lecturers with universities of Gazi, Muğla, Ankara, Gaziantep, Ataturk and Anadoly, as well as in the framework of the EU programme Erasmus with universities in Erzingen, Gazi, Hajettepe, Anadoly. Chair of "TURKSOY" works at the Oriental studies faculty. Its activities are intended to deepen cultural, humanitarian, scientific-technical integration and development of scientific-educational ties", - said the rector of KazNU.

The vice-rector of Istanbul University Aidyn Orhan Janbolat thanked for the provided opportunity to exchange experience and views on priority areas of cooperation.

During the meeting the rector of the KazNU G. Mutanov was announced to open stomatological faculty on the basis of KazNU. The proposal was supported by Istanbul University. The Turkish side expressed interest in establishment of the faculty.

The sides discussed priority directions of bilateral cooperation and outlined a plan of action.
