Implementation of new projects

A meeting with Vice President of the Shanghai University of transport Xu Xuemin was held at al-Farabi KazNU. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Dean of the faculty of mechanical engineering Jean Junlan, Deputy Dean of the faculty of physics and astronomy Chen Liwen, Deputy Director, International Department, Li Ping, Vice Dean of the faculty of materials science and engineering Chen Ke, Deputy Director of the training Department Chen Feng.

Opening the meeting, the rector of al-Farabi KazNU G. Mutanov noted that KazNU is actively pursuing partnerships with Chinese universities, we have a Confucius Institute, which is a leading center of training of highly qualified specialists in the Chinese language in the Republic of Kazakhstan. "Between universities of China and KazNU signed more than 30 cooperation agreements. In cooperation with the Institute of remote sensing and digital Earth (RADI) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences created a research center at KazNU. This year, the Chinese company "INSPUR" will provide KazNU the supercomputer with a high performance one hundred and ten trillion operations per second (110 Tfl). In the framework of the agreement of the President of China XI Jinping and President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan on further deepening of bilateral cooperation, including in the framework of "One belt, one road", - said the rector.

Vice President of Shanghai University of transportation Xu Xuemin thanked for the warm welcome. "The Alliance of universities of the new silk road unites our universities. I hope we will be able to implement projects that will create a good environment for the future of the new silk road," - said Xu Xuemin.

During the meeting the parties discussed areas of cooperation in the spheres of science and education, and discussed further cooperation and the exchange of students and teachers in the framework of academic mobility. The Chinese delegation stressed on their interest in expanding collaboration with KazNU.

The meeting resulted in the signing of the Memorandum on scientific and educational cooperation between al-Farabi KazNU and the Shanghai University of transport.
