Purpose

The program is aimed at formation a professional personality of a specialist with analytical and creative thinking, able to critically evaluate the methodological principles of the study of artistic creativity, synthesize new approaches to the study of literary heritage, solve a wide range of scientific problems of literary and folklore studies, present their opinions on actual issues of modern humanities; work in a team.

Upon completion of this educational program, it is expected that doctoral students will be able to:

1. To demonstrate the system understanding of modern theories, concepts, methodologies of literary and folklore studies, domesticatication of the newest technologies of artistic work's research, expertise of literature’s works.

To understand the laws of the development of the modern historical-cultural and literary processes, the influence of the scientific-technical progress on the artistic work and methodology of research and evaluation of the literary heritage of the writers.

2. To develop a strategy of the study, interpretation and expertise of artistic works in the context of tendencies of the development of modern historical-cultural and economic processes.

3. To own and operate freely with the latest, digital and Internet technology research, expertise of artistic works.

4. To analyze critically, evaluate and synthesize new ideas, approaches to the study of the literary heritage of the writers, expressions of folklore and culture.

To assess the validity of the methodologies used in the research literature and folklore. To conduct independent research of fundamental and applied problems of literary and folklore studies in the context of the achievements of modern science.

5. To develop and implement patent search, coordination and management of scientific research in the field of theoretical and applied literary studies, language and cultural policy, state and action programs.

To develop scientific and creative projects on the commercialization of cultural works, literature and art.

6. To develop new methodological approaches of teaching literature at the higher school, exercising their critical analysis and generating new hypotheses.

To use of the expertise of the main studied language and literature, the theory of communication, the philological analysis and interpretation of the text in their own research and teaching activities.

7. To nominate and decide the scientific problems, which actual for the modern literary and folklore studies in the paradigm of the achievements of domestic and world social-humanitarian science.

To differentiate the priorities of training and research activities to match their own scientific interests with public, ethnic values and the needs of society.

8. To organize, analyze and synthesize the theoretical knowledge in the field of literary and folklore studies, the theory of communication.

9. To use the conceptual and methodological apparatus of the theory of literature and folklore study for non-standard tasks of different complexity levels.

To apply modern information technology to the implementation of the study and expertise of artistic work.

10. To develop methodology for the study of literary texts, their original and translated versions, the principles of classification of literary texts and discourses, their application in the process of professional activity.

11. To present the results of the research work in the form of reports, articles, monographs, courses of lectures, textbooks and manuals with the use of modern means of printing, editing and information resources.

12. To personalize himself as a competitive personality with a high degree of social and professional adaptation, capable of self-regulation, flexible type and nature of professional activities; be capable of reflection, objective assessment of their achievements, analysis of the situation.

To be ready to correct and tolerant interaction in society, to social interaction and cooperation to address the problems of scientific and cultural heritage.

To determine the directions of further personal and professional development, to insist on his point of view, to take action to convince the opponents.

Academic activities

The academic activity of the EP is carried out:

- within the framework of existing regulatory documents and methodological recommendations in the field of higher education in the field of literary studies;

- as a result of the implementation of regulatory documents regulating the educational and methodological process at the university;

- generalization and dissemination of new normative legal acts concerning methodological work;

- current and long-term planning of the educational and methodological work of the university; coordination of the educational and methodological complex of the discipline (EMCD) of the department for compliance with regulatory legal acts, the working curriculum and the educational program;

- monitoring the provision of the educational process with teaching materials, documenting the results;

- development of teaching materials; development and implementation of the working curriculum.

Scientific activity

For the implementation of the educational program at the faculty of philology and world languages there are laboratories of Zhambyl Center of research of Kazakh folklore and literature, Abay Institute.

Scientific schools or scientific directions of the department (science projects):

Training of specialists in the educational program “8D02304 – Literary Study” in the following scientific areas and schools:

1) theoretical and methodological literary studies, engaged in the development of scientific concepts, conceptual and categorical apparatus of the science of literature;

2) comparative literature based on comparative historical study of national literatures, identifying patterns of development of world and domestic literature;

3) intertextology and textology that studies the functioning of the nature of artistic texts;

4) innovative and communicative technologies of philology, engaged in the development and introduction of new methods and techniques of teaching humanities;

5) literary criticism, evaluating the significance of the artistic heritage of the past and present, identifying the place and role of the writer in the historical and cultural process;

6) hermeneutics and receptive aesthetics, studying the features of perception and interpretation of the meanings embedded in the work of artistic literature.

International activities

The program provides scientific internships for students in leading foreign universities under the guidance of foreign scientists who are scientific advisors for doctoral students.

Teachers of the educational program undergo internships, educational courses abroad to exchange experience, gain new competencies, and improve educational skills.
