Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is a modern university, a flagship in the field of education, which is focused on the training of future specialists using advanced technologies and teaching methods that characterizes the close relationship between theory and practice in the learning process. This was convinced by students of the 1st year specialty “Restaurant business and hotel business”, who only this year could be part of a large family of the department “Recreational Geography and Tourism”, thanks to the opening of this specialty at our university. After all, as V.S. said Pasternak: “A theory without practice is dead, and practice without theory is stupid!” Thanks to the active participation of the teachers of the department, and in particular the curators of the Kazakh department - senior teachers R. Baiburiev and Asipova Zh.M., students of this specialty, within the framework of taught disciplines and curatorial hours, were able to visit various places of public catering, where they could lively assess the level of infrastructure development, the work of staff in the service sector in the restaurant business, learn all the subtleties of the choice of cuisine and the secrets of cooking various dishes.
