The international scientific and practical conference "Modern Trends of Higher Education and Science in the Field of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering" dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan Yerengaip Shaikhutdinov has started at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The event was attended by leading scientists of Kazakhstan and foreign countries, teaching staff and students. 

Within the framework of the conference, the opening of the auditorium named after E.M. Shaikhutdinov  took place in the building of the academic building of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, auditorium 215.

A welcome letter from the Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was read out at the plenary session. Congratulating the participants of the significant international scientific forum, the rector noted the merits of Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerengaip Shaikhutdinov, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the Kazakh SSR, the country's largest scientist in the field of polymer science, an outstanding teacher and organizer of higher education, a major public figure.

The opening of the conference was also attended by Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Director of the Institute of Organic Synthesis and Carbon Chemistry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Z. Muldakhmetov, Chairman of the Council of Veterans of Almaty A. Bizhanov, Scientific Director of the The Institute of Combustion Problems Z. Mansurov, General Director of JSC "Institute of Metallurgy and Enrichment" B. Kenzhaliev.

The conference will continue within the framework of plenary and breakout sessions, where scientists will discuss current trends in the development of chemistry and technology of organic substances and materials, as well as current problems of the development of higher education in the field of chemistry and chemical engineering.
