From December 12 to December 15, 2016, the International Epidemiology and Hygiene Chair held an international training course on "Topical Issues of Infection Control" with participation of visiting professor Elena Kolosovskaya, MD, professor, head of the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision of Hospital Infection of the Military Medical Academy of. CM. Kirov, Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Over 40 epidemiologists from DZPP and UZPP, hospital epidemiologists, members of infection control committees, bacteriologists, virologists, doctors from various specialties of public and private treatment and prophylactic institutions, AIDS Centers from different regions of Kazakhstan gathered for the cycle. 

The following issues were considered:

• ·         General issues of hospital epidemiology;

• ·         Organization of epidemiological surveillance of nosocomial infections in Russia and Kazakhstan;

• ·         Organization of infection control in medical organizations;

• ·         The role of the microbiological laboratory in the infection control system;

• ·         Features of epidemiology and prevention of individual nosocomial infections;

• ·         Disinfection and sterilization;

• ·        

Listeners and lecturers exchanged experience and information on current trends in the field of infection control in the world, Russia and Kazakhstan.
