Week of Turkish language and culture", which is annually held in the spring semester, this year was organized by the Kazakh National University named after al-Farabi and the General Consul of the Turkish Republic in Almaty together with the Department of Education from 15 to 19 March 2021. The five-day event began on Monday with an opening ceremony. The opening ceremony were attended by General Consul of Turkish Republic Ali Riza Akinci, Head of the Education Department of Turkey in Nur-Sultan Abdulmutalip Cetin, Head of the Education Department of Turkey in Almaty Mahmud Agyrman, Dean of the Faculty Sharkiyat Ihtiyar Paltore, Head of Turksoy Department Umit Kydyrbayeva, teachers and students of the department.

            In particular, at the opening of the Week of the Program, which includes the day of the adoption of the anthem on March 12 and the Day of Memory of the Heroes of Canakkale on March 18, the General Consul of Turkish Republic Ali Riza Akinci, Head of the Education Department of Turkey in Nur-Sultan Abdulmutalip Cetin, Head of the Education Department of Turkey in Almaty Mahmud Agyrman, Dean of the Faculty Sharkiyat Ihtiyar Paltore, Head of Turksoy Department Umit Kydyrbayeva made congratulations. After the congratulations, a video film was shown on the theme “March 12 is Anthem Day of birth”. After the lecturer of the department Nuriddin Chakyr made a report on the significance of the week, the opening ceremony ended with a demonstration of memorable scenes from the events of the “Week of Turkish Language and Culture” held in previous years. The second day of the event began with the performance of the youngest Turkish singer Ilker Selimler and continued with the seminar on theme “Art of Ebru on Water” (art of painting with oil paint on the water surface). Selimer first spoke about the past and present of art ebru (art of oil painting on the surface of water) and completed his performance on two art forms. Our seminar with questions from the participants was held in the form of an interview. In addition to Kazakhstan, the event was attended by students and teachers studying Turkish from many countries, such as Turkey and Italy.

The third day of the “Week of Turkish Language and Culture” continued with the reports of the 2nd and 3rd year students of Turksoy Department on the topic "Turkey". The program started with a report on “The Mosaic of Turkish Civilization” and continued with a report on “Everything that concerns the meaning of the word “Tur”. The program was ended by dialogue on the topic “Turkey” with the participation of students. During the program they made a report on the topic "Geliboly yarymady, Canakkale" and honoured the memory of the heroes of Canakkale.

The fourth day of the week was dedicated to Turkish melodies. Associate Professor of the Pamukkale University of Turkish Republic Serhat Sural conducted a seminar on the theme “Rhythm of the melody of the world: Turkish melody”. During the seminar Sural who presented the Turkish national instrument responded to the questions posed by the participants. Percussion instruments were also presented at the event. At the end of the program the video presentation prepared by our guest Surala together with students in honor of the Day of Memory of the Heroes of Canakkale on March 18 "Canakkale turkisi" was demonstrated. The participants and the audience showed great interest in the event.

On the final day of the event, a competition of Turkish readings "Reading explanation" was organized among 1st and 2nd year students of Turksoy Department. 1st and 2nd year students were trained under the guidance of Aknur Halel and Elmira Montanay. During the first half of the meeting, on the official day of the event, the students read a poem in Turkish before a jury that was composed of department teachers. In the second half of the meeting the winners were awarded, and the participants shared their thoughts about the past week. The event dedicated to the "Week of the Turkish Language and Culture" was ended by closing speech of the head of Turksoy Department Umit Kydyrbayeva. The event held at the department for many years this academic year was held with the assistance of the department teachers and teachers of the Education Department of Turkey in Almaty, Dr. Selenay Koshumcu, Dr. Jeren Kabaday and Dr. Nuriddin Chakyra. The event aimed at introducing the students of the department to Turkish culture was implemented online this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Many teachers and students studying Turkish from Kazakhstan and from all over the world took part in the programs conducted in the online format.
