«Commemorating 100 Years of the Republic of Turkey: A Festive Evening at the Turksoy Department»

27th October 2023 - In a celebration of historical significance, students from the 1st to 4th year of the Turksoy Department came together to mark the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey. The event was held to pay tribute to the valiant heroes who played pivotal roles in Turkey's fight for independence, most notably Mustafa Kemal ATATURK, and to introduce the new first-year students to the rich history and culture of Turkey.

 

The festive evening commenced with a warm welcome from Yem Natalya, the esteemed dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, setting the stage for an evening of cultural significance.

 

The event's organization was expertly handled by Selenay Koshumdzu, a distinguished senior lecturer in the Turksoy Department, holding a PhD in the field.

 

The highlight of the evening was a captivating recitation by Albina Muratova, a 3rd-year student, who performed the poem 'I think of Mustafa Kemali (Ümit Yaşar Oğuzcan).' Her rendition left the audience in awe, resonating with the spirit of the occasion.

 

The audience was also treated to an enlightening documentary, shedding light on the remarkable journey towards the establishment of the Republic of Turkey.

 

Additionally, the 1st-year students took to the stage to recite the poem 'Akın akın Mustafa Kemal yağıyordu Anadolu'ya,' further connecting with the historical significance of the evening.

 

The celebrations took an artistic turn when 1st-year students Ayazhan Bolatova, Ms. Kantaeva, and Balnur Turganbay, along with 4th-year student Aidana, graced the occasion with a mesmerizing Turkish dance performance.

 

An esteemed guest at the event was Mr. Dr. Emre Karabatak, an assistant of the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey, who added a touch of honor to the evening. The culmination of the event saw a letter of gratitude presented to him by the deputy dean, Mrs. Saltanat Djakubayeva.

 

The festive evening was not just a celebration; it was a tribute to history and a warm embrace of Turkish culture for students old and new, marking a memorable occasion in the Turksoy Department's academic journey.
