June 6-8, 2017 in the Scientific Library of the Al-Farabi KazNU VIII International Conference “Polymeric materials of low combustibility” was held, dedicated to the memory of the outstanding scientist, academician of the National Academy of Sciences RK Bulat Zhubanov. Organizers of the conference along with our university were the N.N. Semenov Institute of Chemical Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Russia, Academy of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia, Volgograd State Technical University, National Research Moscow State University of Construction, Kokshetau Technical Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The main directions of the scientific conference were the thermooxidative destruction and pyrolysis of polymers, the theory of combustion of polymeric materials, the mechanism of action and synthesis of new highly effective polymer combustion inhibitors, the development of new polymer materials and low combustibility compositions, the environmental and fire safety of materials and structures, Materials, analysis of emergency situations of natural and man-made character.

Conference reports are of high relevance and importance in the production of new composite materials, construction, ensuring the safety of buildings and structures.
