ON1. Demonstrate a systematic understanding of biophysical processes; it is reasoned to prove theoretical propositions explaining the physicochemical regularities of the phenomena under study in the living;

This subject deals with methods and methodologies of scientific research; modern experimental approaches to scientific research of a doctoral student; stages and principles of planning a scientific experiment; features of using biological objects in a biophysical experiment and selection of modern chemical, mathematical, physical and biological research methods that can solve the aim of experimental work; experimental approaches to the study of biophysics’ objects at the molecular level; advances in the use of molecular methods in the study of biological objects; the specificity of computer simulation in scientific research; rules for the implementation of the experiment, processing and interpretation of results.

Theoretical Biophysics

- Description: The purpose of the discipline is to form theoretical knowledge of the main sections of biophysics, and to provide a theoretical and methodological basis for understanding the nature of biological phenomena, to substantiate and discuss the problems of mathematical modeling of biological processes at different levels of living organization. Discipline examines the physical characteristics, dynamic and electronic properties of the structural unit of the living - macromolecules, physical and chemical mechanisms of energy transformation in biostructures. As a result of studying the discipline, the student will be able to: 1. describe the main methods of biophysics; 2. explain the specifics and organize the conduct of biophysical research; 3. to classify research methods in biophysics; 4. substantiate the role and importance of biophysical approaches in the study of living things; 5. to conduct biophysical research relevant for the formation of experimental skills among doctoral students The discipline is aimed at mastering the theory and practice of using modern samples of high-tech physical and chemical equipment necessary for biophysical research, its application in medicine, clinical laboratories, research institutions.

Thermodynamics of Biological Processes

- Description: The purpose of the discipline is the formation of a systemic understanding of biophysical processes, the ability to reasonably prove theoretical propositions explaining the nature of the general patterns of energy conversion in the form of heat and work between different biosystems. Discipline is aimed at studying the thermodynamics of irreversible processes in biological systems, changing entropy and information. As a result of studying the discipline, the doctoral candidate will be able to: 1. to characterize the phenomena under study, using the basic principles and methods of thermodynamics; 2. explain the specifics of the organization and conduct of their research from the standpoint of thermodanimics; 3. to classify the thermodynamic research methods used in biophysics; 4. to justify the role and importance of thermodynamic approaches in the study of living things; 5. conduct biophysical research relevant to the formation of experimental skills of doctoral students using the methods of kinetic modeling, the studied phenomena using IT-technologies. - Description: Aim of the subject: to develop practical skills of writing academic texts for doctoral students in order to present the results of their work in the form of reports, reviews, scientific reports and publications in rating publications indexed in Scopus with a non-zero SJR that meet the criteria of non-predatory publications. Within the discipline, doctoral students improve their skills in analyzing and presenting of scientific information in various forms (report, review, article); learn to structure, format, select the style and language of describing research results in order to publish research materials in the form of scientific articles in ranked scientific journals, taking into account the peculiarities of writing scientific articles in English; master the methodology of writing a doctoral dissertation; develop the methodology for writing and issuing research grants in priority areas in the field of biophysic and related fields. Also, learn to create the design of scientific research in accordance with the ethical principles and norms of the scientific publication process.

- Description: The purpose of the discipline is to form skills that allow analyzing and substantiating the features of the temporal organization of biological processes in biosystems of different levels of organization from cellular to organismal and population based on the idea of time as a factor of life. As a result of studying the discipline, the doctoral candidate will be able to: 1. analyze and be able to understand the basic characteristics of the rhythms of the studied processes and the phenomena of vital activity of biosystems of different levels of organization from cellular to organismal, applying biorhythmic approaches when considering any studied biological phenomena; 2. possess the skills of calculating the structural parameters of rhythms and determine the structural parameters of the observed rhythms; 3. justify the achievements of chronobiology and the prospects for its development based on a systematic understanding of the methods and concepts of chrobiology; 4. explain the nature and mechanisms of rhythmic processes based on an understanding of the endogenous and exogenous nature of biological rhythms; 5. be able to adequately interpret the chronostructural characteristics of biological rhythms, taking into account new achievements of chronobiology. Discipline is aimed at studying time and rhythmic processes in living organisms and involves the formation and development of doctoral students a deep understanding of the biological meaning of the physiological mechanisms of generating biorhythms in the body. Special attention is paid to the study of rhythmic process markers, as well as biological rhythms in normal conditions and pathology, their connection with the rhythms of the surrounding world, desynchronosis and methods for their correction.

Free-radical processes in Biology

- Description: The purpose of the discipline is to develop an understanding of the role of free radicals in the vital activity of the cells of the body for the analysis, determination and assessment of the functional state of a biosystem in normal and pathological conditions. As a result of studying the discipline, the student will be able to: 1. describe the main sources of free radicals in living systems, both endogenous and exogenous; 2. explain the specific mechanisms of cell damage by free radicals; 3. classify foreign and natural radicals, and be able to analyze their participation in biochemical enzymatic and non-enzymatic physiological processes; 4. to justify the role and importance of free radicals in the reactions of biosynthesis, oxidative phosphorylation, regulation of lipid metabolism, mitosis, and metabolism; biophysical approaches in the study of the living; 5. based on an analysis of the metabolism in the cells of the body, develop recommendations for the prevention of "overload" by free radicals and peroxides. Discipline introduces the basic principles of the emergence of alien and natural radicals, their participation in biochemical enzymatic and non-enzymatic physiological processes, in biosynthesis, oxidative phosphorylation, regulation of lipid metabolism, mitosis, and metabolism. The mechanisms of cell damage by free radicals that cause some forms of cardiovascular diseases are described: ischemia, atherosclerosis, hypertension, and recommendations are given to prevent overloading by free radicals and peroxides.

- Description: The purpose of the discipline - to form the ability to describe and evaluate the processes of self-organization of biosystems of different levels of complexity based on ideas about the mechanisms ensuring the evolution of sustainable living systems based on the analysis of stable dynamic stationary states of these systems. As a result of studying the discipline, students will be able to: 1. Describe stable stationary states and bifurcation points; 2. Explain the specifics and principles of the formation of fractals; 3. Master the understanding of the mechanisms of evolution of dynamic systems and fractal structures; 4. Justify the need for management techniques (regulation) of body functions based on the concepts of dynamic stationary states and fractal structures; 5. Conduct research relevant to the experimental study of the evolution of the fractal organization of biosystems. Discipline is aimed at studying: fractality and nonequilibrium dynamic state, bifurcation points, biosystems openness, mathematical modeling of their behavior and development. The training course forms a theoretical and methodological basis for understanding the nature and mechanisms of self-organization of living systems.

As a result of studying the discipline, the doctoral candidate will be able to: 1. to characterize the phenomena under study, using knowledge and ideas about the properties and sources of electromagnetic fields; 2. explain the specifics of the electromagnetic field on biological objects; 3. to classify electromagnetic fields and electromagnetic waves to substantiate the research methods used in biophysics; 4. to substantiate the methods of studying the action of electromagnetic waves and fields on living systems; 5. reasonably explain the mechanisms of action of electromagnetic fields and waves on the membranes of membranes, on the structure of the blood, on the activity of the brain, etc .; 6. to conduct biophysical research relevant to the formation of experimental skills of doctoral students using IT-technologies. The course introduces the electromagnetic fields and electromagnetic waves, the spectrum of electromagnetic waves, sources of electromagnetic waves, the characteristics of the action of electromagnetic waves on biomembranes, the effects on the blood structure, the mechanisms of action of the electromagnetic field on the electrical activity of the brain on behavior living organism.

Explain the specifics of the principles of the functioning of the body; 3. To master the understanding of the mechanisms of the regulation of physiological processes at the molecular-cellular levels of the organization of the human body; 4. Discipline introduces the basics of the structure and functions of biological membranes, describes the biochemical features of the membranes of various organs and tissues of the body, special attention is paid to the processes of bioenergy, free radical phenomena, processes of catabolism and anabolism, the mechanisms of transfer of protons, electrons flowing also with the absorption of light, membrane transport systems : Na / K-ATPase, Ca-ATPase, regulation of ATPase activity. H-ATPase. A classification of transport proteins based on their mechanism of action and energy is given, primary and secondary active carriers, etc. are described.
