History of university from 1991 to 2001

One of the fundamental provisions of the policy of Head of State from the very first days of independence has become a concern for the preservation and development of human capital. As long ago as January 1992 the first Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On education" was adopted, and in 2000 - the Decree of the President of Republic of Kazakhstan "On "Education" state program of the Republic of Kazakhstan". Also in January 1992 the Law "On science and state scientific and technological policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan" was adopted, in 1993 - the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On the measures to improve the organization of science and the development of scientific and technical potential of the republic". This legislation has provided new possibilities for the development of education and science.

Since 1993, it has gained the status of an autonomous self-governing public institution by the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and was renamed to Kazakh State National University. The first fundamental steps towards the implementation of international requirements for personnel training and the creation of a new research and innovation infrastructure were made - the transition to a two-stage system of "Bachelor - Masters program" training and the creation of Scientific Research Institutes network and technological park as a part of university.
