A round table on the topic "The Role of CICA in Modern International Relations" was held at the Faculty of International Relations of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with the support of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan in Almaty.

The event was held as part of the celebration of the 30^th anniversary of the establishment of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia (CICA). Prominent national diplomats have made a huge contribution to the formation and development of the CICA.

At the opening ceremony of the round table, a congratulatory speech was delivered by Representative of the UN Department of Global Communications in Kazakhstan – Vlastimil Samek, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Almaty – Jiang Wei, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Almaty – Mohsen Fagani, Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Almaty – Abror Fathullayev.

Kazakhstani diplomats and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Almaty, as well as foreign and domestic researchers stressed the need and importance of such dialogue platforms for the peaceful solution of interstate, regional, international and world problems. Representatives of the academic and expert community exchanged views on topical issues of the activities and role of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in modern international relations.

During the round table, the participants discussed key issues and prospects for the development of a system of confidence-building measures on the Asian continent in the context of the erosion of security mechanisms; trade and sanctions wars; ensuring constructive negotiations on controversial issues and resolving contradictions at the very initial stage of their occurrence; the need to develop joint systemic approaches to countering terrorism and mechanisms for anticipating threats on the territory of the countries CICA and many other relevant topics.

In addition, the event became a meeting place for well-known experts and representatives of the academic community. Following the results of the round table, a resolution was adopted.
