This year marks the 50th anniversary of the founding and start of construction of KazNU. In honor of this significant date, veteran builders and alumni gathered at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The anniversary event was attended by Zhanseit Tuimebayev, the Chairman-Rector of the University, who highlighted the great contribution of the veteran builders to the creation of the campus of KazNU. "KazNU campus, where we are located, is a world-class student campus, which was built under the leadership of Omirbek Aryslanovich Zholdasbekov. He led our university from 1970 to 1986 and raised it to a new level. Reading halls were equipped with necessary equipment, new dormitories were built.

In addition, new academic buildings were erected. Each of you contributed to the construction of these buildings. As many years ago, a great deal of work continues at the university today. KazNU is now one of the leading universities in the world. The campus of the university is being transformed and meets modern requirements," said Zhanseit Tuimebayev. It is worth noting that the first construction site at KazNU was the building of the Faculty of Biology, built on April 19, 1972. D. A. Kunayev, A. Zakarin, O. A. Zholdasbekov and professional builders took part in the construction of KazNU. Veteran builders spoke at the ceremony and shared their memories.

"We have fond memories of KazNU. We were young and worked hard to build the university campus. Those times and events are still in our memories. Today we have come to the campus we founded. The campus has been renovated in a modern style, the buildings have all the necessary equipment, and all conditions have been created for the young people to study," veteran builder Baurzhan Sarsenbaiuly said. At the event, a presentation of the book "50 Years of KazGU Campus" initiated by the founders of the campus was held. The head of the university awarded the veteran builders with the medal "Eren enbegi ushin" and the diploma "Qurmet".
