The opening of the audience named after Abish Kekilbayev and the Republican Scientific and Practical Conference «Abish Kekilbayev - an outstanding personality of the era» were held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University on October 26, 2019 as part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the outstanding statesman and public figure, people's writer of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Abish Kekilbayev.

Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU, Academician Galym Mutanov, opening the audience and conference, addressed with a welcoming speech to all participants in these events. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of the activities of Abish Kekilbayev for the spiritual and intellectual development of the country, his contribution to the establishment and strengthening of Independent Kazakhstan.

During the conference, it was highlighted that Abish Kekilbayev was engaged in creativity from his student years, and already his first poems and stories were liked by readers, received positive reviews from critics and literary critics who predicted a great future for him. The world-famous writer, classic Mukhtar Omarkhanovich Auezov highly appreciated the works of A. Kekilbayev.

Poems, stories, novels of the writer have always been relevant. His unique style, rich literary language, original approach have received high recognition and appreciation in Kazakh literature.

This year, in connection with the anniversary, the world of Abish Kekilbayev once again attracted the attention of the general public. Events dedicated to the memory of the writer were held in several cities of Kazakhstan. Several meetings were devoted to the classics of Kazakh literature, a major public and statesman at various levels, forums and conferences. At each event, his literary talent, artistic skill, and contribution to the treasury of national literature were discussed. The tremendous work of A. Kekilbayev, aimed at the spiritual revival of the nation, was noted.

The work of the Republican Scientific and Practical Conference was moderated by the Dean of the Faculty of Philology and World Languages, Professor Omirkhan Abdimanuly. At the plenary session, the First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan, poet Elgezek Akberen, writer, playwright, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan Dulat Isabekov made a welcoming speech and a report.

Report on the topic «Abish Kekilbaev - genius» were made by a writer, film playwright, honored worker of Kazakhstan Smagul Yelubaev, Director of the Abay Institute at Al-Farabi KazNU, Doctor of Philology, Professor Zhangara Dadebaev, Director of the M.O. Auezov Institute of Literature and Art of the MES RK, Doctor of Philology, Professor Kenzhekhan Matyzhanov.

The report «Creativity of Abish Kekilbayev: the worldview of the thinker and artistic skill» was made by a professor at the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, doctor of philological sciences Temirkhan Tebegenov.

At the end of the event, the writer’s wife, Klara Zhumabaeva, shared her memories of the writer’s creative activities as a student, and spoke about the positive impact of his mother on the education of A. Kekilbayev.

She thanked the University staff for organizing the event and answered the questions of the Conference participants.
