The discussion of the Address of President Kassym-Jomart Tokaev to the nation of Kazakhstan «Constructive Public Dialogue - the Basis of Stability and Prosperity of Kazakhstan» was held at Al-Farabi KazNU.

Rector of the University, Academician Galym Mutanov highlighted that the President has set specific tasks for the further progressive development of the country’s economy, solving social problems and improving the welfare of the people. Particular attention is paid to ensuring conditions for the qualitative growth of human capital, increasing the competitiveness of higher education, expanding opportunities for talented youth, especially from rural areas, to receive education in domestic and foreign Universities, implementing the program «With a diploma to the village», employing graduates and etc.

Speakers noted that the team of Al-Farabi KazNU is deliberately working on these important tasks and is achieving a positive result. Consistently pursuing the strategy of transformation into the research University, KazNU, first in Central Asia, took 20th place among the best universities in the world in the international ranking of QS World University Rankings.

The number of students over the past five years has almost doubled, reaching more than 25 thousand people, most of whom are holders of the «Altyn Belgi» sign, winners of international and national competitions.

One of the main principles of the University’s academic policy is its orientation towards continuous practical training of students, which allows them to form the necessary professional skills starting from the first year of study. The University faculties provide constant communication with the labor market through the Councils of employers, which are formed from among the graduates of the faculty.

Over the past five years, KazNU held 23 Job Fairs with the participation of more than 700 employing companies, which were visited by more than 20 thousand graduates. In 2019, the University launched an employment information portal - the first electronic platform - «Youth and Career» - for interaction between a graduate and an employer.

The Address pays attention to the development of mass physical culture among young people. In this direction, all conditions have been created for students at KazNU, a sports complex and more than 30 sports sections are operating. The University is the undisputed leader in student sports, and it has trained many champions of the World, the Olympic Games and international competitions.

The Head of State highlighted in his Address that the next 2020 will be the «Year of Volunteers». KazNU’s volunteer movement has been active since 2010. A public association «Komek» was created at the University, which provides assistance to needy people and orphans. Students participate in various events, environmental actions and charity activities.

It should be noted that in KazNU more than 2 thousand students from socially vulnerable groups enjoy benefits and discounts on tuition, receive targeted material and other assistance.

Following the discussion at the Academic Council of KazNU, a comprehensive roadmap for the implementation of the Address was adopted. It provides the fulfillment of Presidential instructions, including the formation of a comfortable environment on the student campus, the employment of graduates, career guidance and professional diagnostics of schoolchildren, the implementation of scientific research in the real sector of the economy, the creation of high-tech products and etc.
