ALTAI - THE GOLDEN CRADLE OF THE TURKIC WORLD

Students and teachers of the Faculty of History, Archeology and Ethnology of Al-Farabi KazNU took part in the Forum «Altai - the Golden Cradle of the Turkic world», which was held in Ust-Kamenogorsk.

A large-scale conference brought together scientists-archaeologists, Turkologists from more than 20 countries. In the framework of the forum, the participants of the event made interesting reports on ancient monuments and modern archaeological research. A unique exposition of finds was displayed here, on which the «Urjar Priestess» was represented, which is embodying the image of a Saka woman (IV – III century BC); the Shilikty Golden Man, found by Professor Abdesh Toleubaev; and the Golden Man, found by Professor Zeynulla Samashev on Eleke Sazy plateau in Tarbagatai district as well as masterpieces of ancient jewelry and metallurgy: coins, arrowheads and etc.

Doctor of historical sciences, professor of KazNU Abdesh Toleubaev made a report «Results of the project «Monuments of antiquity and the Middle Ages of the Shilikty valley and the foothills of Tarbagatai».

At the end of the forum, the delegation of KazNU visited the unique historical and archaeological natural monument «Ak Bauyr» - a region with an amazing landscape, flora and fauna. It is assumed that in ancient times, «Ak Bauyr» could serve as a place where observations were made of the location of the Sun and stars, and the determination of the equinox and solstice.
