Partnership with University of Illinois

Director of the International Partnership Program of the UIC at the University of Illinois in Chicago, Mr. Jeff Wan, visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University to discuss areas of cooperation between the two Universities. During a meeting with the First Vice-Rector of KazNU Mukhambetkali Burkitbaev, general issues of collaboration and the establishment of a partnership program between the Universities were discussed.

The First Vice-Rector of KazNU acquainted the guests with the scientific and educational activities of the University, focused on the preparation of joint training programs and scientific research in the framework of cooperation with leading foreign HEIs.

In turn, the Director of International Cooperation Programs at the University of Illinois (UIC), Jeff Van, highlighted the key areas of the University’s activity and expressed great interest in establishing cooperation with leading HEIs in Central Asia. In addition, the parties discussed further partnerships and considered promising work courses in many specialties.

In particular, within the framework of the program of double-diploma education, the ways of joint activities in the fields of Engineering, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Mechanics, Chemical Engineering were considered.

At the end of the meeting, the representatives of the US delegation thanked the leadership of KazNU for the warm welcome, and expressed interest in implementing joint programs that will become a new large-scale project in the development of bilateral educational programs.
