The Director of the Center for Korean Studies of Al-Farabi KazNU German Nikolaevich Kim told about the formula for success during the leadership lecture for students studying Korean and other foreign languages. During the meeting at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Department of History of Konkuk University (Seoul, South Korea), Vice President of the Association of Koreans in Kazakhstan addressed the topic of leadership development, competitiveness and career growth. He also shared his experience of achievements and answered to the questions of students.

Professor G. Kim highlighted that knowledge of foreign languages gives an advantage in building a successful career. Therefore, it is necessary to constantly improve the level of language skills and develop skills of simultaneous translation. He recommended that students read a book by a famous Hungarian translator, polyglot and writer, who was fluent in many languages of the world, Kato Lomb, «How I Learn Languages».

«Kato Lomb has a simple formula that can be displayed as S = T + I, which means: success in learning any language equals the amount of time spent and interest shown. Whereas, my formula turned out to be different: S = T x M, i.e. success depends on the time multiplied by the motivation, and if one of the components is zero, then the result will be appropriate», - shared his opinion guest.

At the end of the meeting, the students asked their questions of interest concerning personal development and career growth, the study of foreign languages as well as the peculiarities and difficulties of translation activities, and thanked the guest for an interesting and informative presentation.

Professor German Kim is an Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, who has made a significant contribution to the development of Korean studies, he is fluent in several languages, and gives lectures as a visiting professor at many universities of the world.
