The new academic semester for the Department of the Far East of the Department of Korean Studies has started with a grant project of online courses for advanced study of the Korean language. The grant project is implemented by financial support of Korea Foundation (KF) and Sookmyung Women’s University (SWU).

«Ambassador Hour» with participation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to Kazakhstan, Mr. Prabhat Kumar was held at the Faculty of Oriental studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Republic of India and the spiritual leader of the Indian people, Mahatma Gandhi.

Students of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management of Al-Farabi KazNU have received a sponsorship in the amount of 1 million tenge from the Doctor of Geographical Sciences, academician of NAS RK, twice laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science and technology, Ahmetkal Medeu.

The leading Kazakhstani University, Al-Farabi KazNU, will open its branch in the Syrian capital, Damascus. This initiative was declared at the start of the celebration of the 1150th anniversary of Abu Nasr Al-Farabi, which was held in Almaty.

Saudi Arabia will take part in the implementation of the project to create a scientific and technological valley at Al-Farabi KazNU. An agreement on this has been reached during a meeting of Rector of the leading Kazakhstani University, academician Galym Mutanov, with the Deputy Minister of Science and Innovation of Saudi Arabia (SA), Mr. Nasser Mohammed Al-Akili.

Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU, Academician Galym Mutanov was awarded the highest state award of the Republic of Turkey for his outstanding achievements as a scientist and contribution to the development of relations in the field of science and education. This was announced by the Deputy of the Parliament of Turkey Metin Gundogdu at the launch ceremony of the celebration of the 1150th anniversary of Al-Farabi in Almaty.

Within the program of the International Forum «Digital Almaty 2020», Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Academician Galym Muthanov has met with the UN Under-Secretary-General Fabrizio Hochschild, and the Representative of the United Nations Department of Global Communications Vlastimil Samek.

Al-Farabi KazNU and King Saud University (KSU) (Saudi Arabia) will sign a cooperation agreement. This decision was made during a meeting of the KazNU leadership with a delegation from Saudi Arabia headed by Nasse Muhammed Al-Aqeeli, Deputy Minister of Science and Innovation.

The meeting of Rector Galym Mutanov with representatives of Universities from Turkey, Greece and Syria and international organizations on the conducting of events dedicated to the anniversary of Al-Farabi abroad was held at Al-Farabi KazNU.

At the KazNU Students' Palace, there was an official opening ceremony for the celebration of the 1150th anniversary of Abu Nasr al-Farabi, in which the State Secretary of the Republic of Kazakhstan Krymebek Kusherbaev and honorary guests of the University took part.
