The educational program «8D05403 – Mechanics»» was developed jointly with foreign partner universities:

• University of Pittsburgh

• Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology (HIET)

• Tallinn University of Technology (TTÜ).

The educational program was internationally accredited by the international agency ASIIN (Germany). Validity of accreditation 11.11.2014-31.12.2019

The position of the EP:

  • in the ranking of the IAAR: 1st place (2014-2019)
  • in the rating of IQAA: 1st place (2013-2019)

The training of highly qualified specialists in the educational program "8D05403 - Mechanics" became possible due to:

- a highly qualified staff of teachers;

- the presence of laboratories equipped with modern facilities, hardware and software, and devices;

- the possibility of combining the learning process with the implementation of scientific research, the development of the research environment, stimulating the innovative activity of students;

- the availability of access to modern educational and scientific literature in 3 languages (English, Kazakh, Russian) in all specialties;

- the possibility of undergoing foreign scientific internships on the topic of dissertation research in leading universities and / or large research centers of near or far abroad;

- the possibility of undergoing foreign internships and training in a joint program for the training of PhD doctors in the field of geo-energetics, Nancy University (France).

- Opportunities for internships and employment in advanced enterprises of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of specialty: in universities of the country, in research institutes and scientific centers of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Academy of Engineering of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in centers of specialized services and in other organizations;

- Opportunities to study in the framework of academic mobility in partner universities in France, Germany, India, Poland, Japan, the USA, Russia, etc.

The Department of Mechanics conducts scientific research in the following priority areas of science in the Republic of Kazakhstan:

1. "The rational use of natural resources, including water, geology, processing, new materials and technologies, safe products and structures",

2. "Energy and mechanical engineering",

3. "Information, telecommunication and space technologies, scientific research in the field of natural sciences."

The department implements an international project of the World Bank "Technology of seasonal storage of solar thermal energy for heating and hot water supply of a residential area / high-rise buildings". As part of the project, an innovative enterprise GreenWell Mechanics LLP was created.
Learning outcomes

As a result of studying the discipline, PhD students will be able to: 

1. ON1 to critically analyze modern analytical and numerical methods for solving problems of theoretical and celestial mechanics and choose appropriate methods taking into account the limitations in the formulation of a specific physical problem;

2. ON2 to comprehensively analyze the physicochemical properties of nanomaterials, analyze the principles of constructing models of turbulent flows, simulate problems of the fluid dynamics with a high order of accuracy using high-performance calculations and parallel calculations;

3. ON3 to simulate heat and mass transfer problems, construct models taking into account the chemical reactions occurring, conduct research on complex physical processes in COMSOL Multiphysics software where several modules are involved;

4. ON4 to design actuators, manipulators, stationary and mobile robots using modern methods of modeling robotic systems, design calculations, diagnostics and control of mechatronic systems, including methods for studying modern intelligent systems of robots;

5. ON5 to apply analytical and numerical methods to solving problems of the theory of plasticity and creeping flow, special problems of the mechanics of a deformable solid, the mechanics of underground structures, the mechanics of brittle fracture, the mechanics of composites;

6. ON6 to analyze and interpret scientific data from various fields of mechanics using modern data processing methods, including visualization, and develop practical recommendations based on them;

7. ON7 to distinguish between the conditions of stability and instability, the chaos inception, the definition of the hotbeds of chaos and their boundaries, applying this knowledge to solve problems of specific areas of mechanics;

8. ON8 implement and adjust, if necessary, the process of independent scientific research, selecting methods that most closely meet the task; critically analyze and evaluate the results obtained, formulate sound conclusions even in conditions of incomplete or limited information; write scientific articles using the skills of academic writing and communicate the results of their research to a wide scientific community, critically assessing their significance;

9. ON9 to write scientific projects on their own, setting the theoretical or practical task of mechanics relevant to society, to develop an algorithm for research measures necessary to solve it; determine the direction and intensity of their professional development in the chosen scientific field, be able to work in a team and contribute to the development of the team and society as a whole.
