The Center for German Studies

The Center for German Studies (CGI) was established in December 2011 on the basis of the Faculty of International Relations of KazNU. al-Farabi with the active assistance of the Foundation. Friedrich im. Ebert. The activities of the Center are also supported by DAAD, the Institute. Goethe, the Consulate General of Germany in Almaty, etc.

Currently, cooperation with institutions in German-speaking countries is expanding, primarily with Austria and Switzerland. Within the framework of project activities, the CGI carries out fruitful cooperation with universities and research centers in Japan, India, China, as well as the CIS countries that study international and regional issues of EU/Germany-Central Asia-Eurasia interaction.

The main mission of the Center is to promote the development of the research and educational process together with foreign universities and research institutes; also assisting in the promotion and adaptation of the EU Educational Strategy (Bologna System) at KazNU. al-Farabi.

CGI fruitfully cooperates with DAAD. The German Academic Exchange Service annually provides scholarship programs for master's and doctoral studies in Germany; grants for language schools, research, etc.

The Center acts as a platform for the implementation of academic mobility programs, in particular, research practice is carried out on its basis for both Kazakhstani and foreign students and research trainees. For this, there are agreements with the universities of Hamburg, Bremen, Heidelberg, the Bundeswehr (Hamburg), Darmstadt, them. Humboldt, with the Free University of Berlin; European Academy Berlin, Institute for Regional and Global Studies / GIGA, etc.

In these areas, master's and doctoral dissertations are being prepared, monographs, scientific articles, collections of conference materials are published. CGI users are students, undergraduates, doctoral students, teachers. The center is open to everyone.
