On April 29, students of the 101st group of "Foreign language: Two foreign languages" specialty organized the "Spelling bee" competition for students of KazNU under the leadership of English language teacher Kontek Ayim Maibekovyna in auditorium 316 of the Faculty of Philology.
This competition aimed to promote the "craving for knowledge" mentioned by Abay, to increase the abilities of students to master the English language, was held on the occasion of "May 1 - Day of the Unity of the People of Kazakhstan".
The competition consisted of 30 levels. The participants were given words according to the level and each participant answered them within 2 minutes "1. He had to speak correctly, without any delay, without any single words, keeping the sequence "Word, 2. Spelling, 3. Word". Each participant is allowed to ask for a given word's synonym, meaning, use in a sentence, word class, and answer thoughtfully. As the period continues, the words become more difficult, and accordingly, as the words become more difficult, the number of participants decreases. The competition was very competitive among the selected participants. Because it was difficult to determine the winners of the 3rd place, an additional stage was held. However, among the 30 strong ones, the real strong ones came out ahead and won prizes.
Kamila Zhuldeli, a 2nd-year student of Translation, Faculty of Philology, KazNU, took 1st place and won the IELTS course, Upper-Intermediate level "Outcomes" textbooks and Dick Leonard's book.
Foreign language: 3rd year student of two foreign languages, Sapaev Maruf took 2nd place and won a one-year upgrade course, "The system made me do it" by Rasma Karxlins along with "Outcomes" textbooks at the Intermediate level.
Foreign language: Olzhas Sayran, a 1st year student of two foreign languages, won textbooks "Outcomes" and "North and South" by Elizabeth Gaskell.
Our sponsors gave English books to the winners of 4.5 places.
Kuanysh Aidar, the author of English language courses and textbooks, who sponsored the competition, and the products donated by the company "Poligon International" (bookshop.almaty) benefited both the winners and the participants, because indispensable tools for improving knowledge were chosen.
Discount coupons were offered to all participants and organizers. Everyone was awarded with certificates and took a commemorative photo. The students expressed their gratitude to the organizers, expressed their warm greetings, and wished for more such competitions to be held.
UIB teacher Ishigova Inara and KazNU senior teacher Konyrbekova Tolkyn, who judged the runners in this competition, did a great job, because it was not easy to weigh the competition of students who have mastered the English language.
Avakova Raushan Amirdinovna, the head of the department of Turkology and language theory, who supported this project, and Mambetova Manshuk Kudaibergenkyna, the deputy head of the department for educational, methodological and educational affairs, expressed their gratitude and good wishes for the initiative of the students. He noted that the project was held at a high level. He expressed confidence that he will find a continuation of useful things for students.
