The essays about Al-Farabi Kazakh National University by foreign students

Whenever I meet people in Almaty, Kazakhstan almost all of them ask how old you are? Sometimes it makes me shy to answer, how can I not be close to 23 years old, I just started my bachelor's program, at which age most people have graduated or entered the master's program. But I thought again that education has no age limit, and while I want and can, well why not It is true that I am approaching 23 years old to be precise on May 5th. At that age, I had just started my bachelor's degree in the Food Production Program in English, at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, at Alfarabi Kazakh National University (KazNU).

Ahmad Fauzan Banurea is my full name and usually, my friends call me Fauzan or sometimes Ahmad. I come from West Sumatra, Indonesia. At KazNU, this is my 3rd lecture. First at President University, in Indonesia majoring in industrial engineering I studied there for only 1 semester, second at Belgrade University, Serbia majoring in medicine for 2 years, and most recently at Al farabi Kazakh National University, Kazakhstan, majoring in Food Production. All of these universities I studied with scholarship programs. Deciding to leave my previous place of study was a very difficult decision for me because I had to find a new place to study and one that had a scholarship program because studying abroad was very expensive for me if, without a scholarship, I had to take care of good school documents. or moving again, I have to adapt again to a new environment, culture, and pattern of society. But all that I went through for the sake of my future. Actually, I didn't have such a significant problem at my previous college, but it turned out that my previous major (medicine) which after I thought it through was not in accordance with what I wanted in the future so I decided to move to college. Actually, I have wanted to study in Kazakhstan for a long time, why because I have never heard of this country, so it made me curious, however, due to limited information about lectures in Kazakhstan, I have discouraged studying here. Finally, it was reached in 2022 in an unintentional way, at first after I decided to leave my old college I registered to study in Thailand with a scholarship program and Alhamdulillah graduated, but suddenly my sister gave information that there was a scholarship program in Kazakhstan also offers many majors in English, one of which is food production, which is the major I have wanted so far.

At the beginning of June, I prepared requirements such as medical check-ups, school certificates, and passports. Then I registered as well as my sister who previously studied medicine in Russia with a scholarship program. I enrolled at KazNU majoring in Food Production, and my younger sibling enrolled at KazGU majoring in international relations. After registering, we passed the document test, then took an online psychological test and continued with the interview test. After the interview, finally, on September 1, the results of the scholarship selection were announced after a long wait. Thank God, my sister and I passed. After that, we were supposed to start lectures on September 1 2022 but there were problems from the international department (visa requirements) making us late so I arrived in Almaty after semester 1 took place. On January 4, 2023, after a long and winding journey, I finally arrived in Kazakhstan. Landed in Almaty at

6.30 am and it was still raining heavily. However, I wasn't really worried because thank God I was studying at the university, and the faculty was full of good people. from campus but this is the initiative of my advisor, who wanted to help me. After that, I was helped to lift my suitcase and take care of all the documents for re-registration at the faculty, registration at the international department, and dormitory registration, and I was even assisted long before I arrived in Almaty. Meeting with my advisor made me think that Kazakhstan, especially my faculty is inhabited by good and helpful people even though they are people who have positions in my university. After I entered the dorm, I started tidying things up. On 16/01/2023 the first day of class for semester 2, until now I feel studying at KazNU is the best choice, because while studying in class I feel comfortable and happy with good lecturers who understand and care about me. In my class, I was alone in the food production English program, but in English and physical training classes, I joined students with different specialties. They are very kind, open, and caring about me. For example, when I ask for help they always help me even though sometimes the language barrier is a barrier but they are still eager to help me. Studying and living here, there were a number of things that surprised me, one of which was that the air temperature was very cold in winter compared to when I lived in Serbia, which also had the same winter season. I hope to finish my undergraduate degree here and have lots of friends here because I am an introvert so it is difficult for me to make friends.
