Kazakhstan is a proud descendant of the outstanding nomadic civilization of the Great Steppe, represented by numerous nomadic state entities, including the Sakas (Asian Scythians), the Huns, the Turkic Khaganate, the Golden Horde and the Kazakh Khanate, which was established in 1465. After being part of the Tsarist empire and the Soviet Union for 260 years, Kazakhstan regained its independence on 16th December 1991 with Nursultan Nazarbayev elected as the country’s first President.

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the educational process

The number of children, young people and adults not attending schools or universities due to the COVID-19 outbreak is skyrocketing. Governments around the world have decided to close educational institutions in an attempt to contain the global COVID-19 pandemic. More than 100 countries have implemented nationwide school closings, according to UNESCO, affecting more than half of the world's students. Several other countries have implemented local school closures, and if those countries also ordered the closure of schools and universities nationwide, it would disrupt the learning process for millions of other students. UNESCO provides direct support to countries in working to minimize the negative impact of school closures on the educational process and create conditions for lifelong learning, especially for the most vulnerable segments of the population.
