Dear pupils of schools, gymnasiums, lyceums!

The Department of Kazakh Literature and Theory of Literature of the Philological Faculty of Al-FarabiKazakh National University invites pupils of grades 9, 10, 11 to take part in the Republican online essay competition " ZhambylZhabayev’s Poetic World", dedicated to Zhambyl Zhabayev’s  175th anniversary of the famous poet of the Kazakh people.

Competition organizer: Department of Kazakh Literature and Theory of Literature of Al-FarabiKazNU (E.K. Karbozov, Candidate of Philological Sciences, senior lecturer, s G.T.Ospanova,  senior lecturer).

The purpose and objectives of the competition are:

-  to develop patriotism, spiritual and moral values; to kindle  students’ interest  in  creativity using new technologies;

- to awake  the interest of schoolchildren in ZhambylZhabayev’s poetry.

-  to develop  creative thinking skills of schoolchildren.

The competition topics:

1. The great poet Zhambyl;

2. ZhambylZhabayev’s  poetic skills.

Requirements for essay preparation:

The volume is  1.5 to 3 pages, WORD format,  font type –  14 Times New Roman,  linespacing–single, margins on all sides.

All submitted papers will be checked by antiplagiarism program. The internet materials are mot accepted. Criteria for essay-assessment:Content, profundity of thought – 10 scoresThe level of using  literary material – 10 scoresEssay writing style – 10 scoresSpelling – 10 scoresPunctuation – 10 scoresCriteria and requirements for essay-writing:The essay content: full coverage of the topic, an explicit statement of the viewpoint, adherence to the problem raised.The essay structure: the skill  to use the thesis and arguments, logically connect paragraphs, draw conclusions based on evidence.The essay language:  the use of figurative expressions and rich vocabularyLinguistic literacy: the absence of spelling and punctuation mistakes, 1 spelling and 1 punctuational mistakes are allowed.A pupil can earn up to  50 scores per essay.

The competition requirements:

•  The deadline for the essay submission is  10 to 16 May, 2021 on e-mail: essaybaykay@mail.ru.

• The committee on the essay assessment  will start its work  17 to 22 May.

• The competition results will be announced on May 24 through social networks.

• The competition winners will be awarded 1, 2 and 3 degree diplomas. 
The papers which will be sent after the deadline will not be accepted. The main focus will be made on the importance of the essay topics.
