Russian Language and Culture Center of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University gathered participants of a creative evening dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the death of the great Russian classic Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov on an online platform on October 11, 2021.Fate brought together connoisseurs of poetry, lovers of Russian classics to honor the memory, pay tribute and remember Mikhail Lermontov. This evening, along with similar events, was distinguished by the fact that the guests of the holiday were representatives of various countries: Kazakhstan, Malta, Russia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan.The anniversary evening was opened with a welcoming speech by Tamara Zubkova, head of the Department of Educational Programs of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty, who shared her impressions of reading Lermontov's works and stressed that modern youth seeking to understand the history and culture of Russia have something to learn from the poetry and prose of the classic.Irina Pereverzeva, head of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Malta, Adviser to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Malta, noted that not so long ago the 200th anniversary of the poet's birth was celebrated everywhere, what events were dedicated to this event, including in Kazakhstan. The head of the Russian Center of the branch of the Russian State Social University in Osh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Zanfira Miskichekova, cited many little-known facts of Lermontov's biography, his genetic ties with the European aristocracy. The head of the Russian Center at Baku State University Arzu Mammadova (Azerbaijan) spoke about the translations of Lermontov into Azerbaijani by Eyvaz Borchaly. Teacher of the Pedagogical Institute of Bukhara State University (Uzbekistan) Dilorom Shodieva noted that Lermontov's poetry is very philosophical, despite such a young age, the Russian classic reflected on the eternal values of life.In addition, the students presented the facts of the classic's autobiography, his interests, as well as how each of Mikhail Lermontov's famous works was created, excerpts from biographical films of different years were shown. From the mouths of the participants sounded: "I go out alone on the road", "To the death of the poet", "I will not humiliate myself before you", "The Prophet" and many other works.
