Russian World Foundation's online site at Baku State University hosted an event on October 9, 2021, dedicated to the World Space Week, which is celebrated annually, according to the UN resolution of 1999, in order to annually celebrate at the international level the contribution that science and technology make to improving human well-being.On October 4, 1957, the Soviet Union launched the first artificial satellite of the Earth, Sputnik-1, and on October 10, 1967, the Treaty on the Principles of the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space entered into force. This year's theme - "A woman in Space" emphasizes the importance of gender equality in the space sector, the role of space in the empowerment of women.The partners of the event were:The Center "Russian Language and Culture" of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The head of the center – Umatova Zhanna Maksutovna told about Soviet and Russian women cosmonauts, noted the role of Tereshkova V.V., Savitskaya S.E., Kondakova E.V., Serova E.O. in space exploration;The host of the event, Fatima Abdullayeva, noted that the World Space Week is the largest annual event in the world dedicated to the study of outer space. Her idea, inspiring students, contributes to the formation of a class of tomorrow's specialists, and also demonstrates tangible public support for the space program, solves issues of public education in the field of space activities, and promotes the development of international cooperation in space propaganda and educational work.At the end of the event, the head of the Russian Center at Baku State University Mammadova Arzu Sahib kyzy, spoke about the work of the Office for Outer Space Affairs, which is responsible for promoting international cooperation in the field of the peaceful use of outer space. A. Mammadova wished the next cosmonaut Anna Kikina a successful flight into space, which is scheduled for 2022.
