On 31 October 2018, a pilot production of polyester resins will be launched as part of the project “Creating a pilot production of polyester resins for special purposes” carried out under the program of commercialization of scientific and (or) technical activities. The project is implemented with the financial support of JSC “Science Fund” and a private partner of VASTE Ltd. The developer of the technology is the Research Institute of New Chemical Technologies and Materials of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The aim of launching the pilot industrial production is to obtain polyester resins for special purposes, which could be used in the obtaining of various composite and building materials, fiberglasses, artificial stone, car parts, radio shielding kits, etc.

As part of the production, it is supposed to be produced up to 200 - 300 tons/year of polyester resins. The cost of the resulting product is 800 - 1200 tg/kg. At the initial stage, it is planned to produce 3 types of unsaturated polyester resins:

- NSP-1TP orthophthalic pre-accelerated resin for general use;

- NSP-2 orthophthalic, non-accelerated resin for the production of artificial stone;

- INSP-1TP isophthalic, pre-accelerated resin with enhanced chemical resistance for the production of pipes and containers.

The preliminary start of production will be held on October 31, 2018 at 15.00 at the address: Almaty region, Iliysky district, Boraldai village, industrial zone, 71 crossing, building 43.
