October 6, 2013 students of the Department of Geography and recreational tourism, Faculty of Geography and Nature Management , Al- Farabi Kazakh National University participated in volunteer work with the Almaty City Administration on the first international cycling race "Tour Of Almaty 2013 " , which was attended by 150 athletes from 16 countries .

The task of the students was to conduct a survey among those present at the event guests and residents of Almaty. The survey was conducted to determine the impact of event tourism in the form of inbound and domestic tourist flow into a tourist destination, which hosts the event.
