Official delegation of KazNU was headed by Rector B.T. Zhumagulov and Vice-rector for scientific activity N.M. Temirbekov. Other members of the delegation were: professors, doctors U.S. Adibekov, T.A. Karpenjuk, M.M. Burkitbayev, B.M. Muhamediev, G.R. Useinova, G.S. Abdyrayimova, Zh.K. Baimagambetov, F.T. Kukeeva, B.K. Maitanov. Journalism Faculty was represented in the delegation by Prof. Dr. S.H. Barlybayeva.
Meeting was held in Eurasian National University, Astana. Participants were able to visit University’s Museum and other sightseeing.
Summit was opened by President of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev. His speech was followed by President of Eurasian Universities Association, Rector of M.S. Lomonosov MSU, Vice-president of Russian Academy of Sciences, academic V.A. Sadovnichiy. Minister of Eduacation and Science of Kazakhstan Zh. Tuimebayev, in his turn, told about Republic’s successes in the education and science, and has revealed plans for the future.
Twenty years ago post-soviet universities has decided to establish Eurasian Universities Association, which serves as a factor of uniting universities in the face of important problems of education and science. Association consists of 98 universities of CIS. In 2009 13 more universities have joined Association during XI Summit in Astana.
As Rector of MSU V.A. Sadovnichiy have said: “Eurasian Universities Association is working for future. We are building the future today in students’ classrooms, in Scientific Councils’ halls, in research laboratories and in mutual activity of Eurasian universities. Knowing interesting experience of the universities will create new stimulus for generous task of education and science development”.
