NEW PROSPECTS OF PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF TSUKUBA

Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev met with Vice-President of the University of Tsukuba, Professor Ohneda Osamu and discussed prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation.

 Rector of KazNU noted that in 2022, within the framework of the 8th Meeting of the Board of Directors at the University of Grenoble Alpes (France) a meeting was held with the President of the University of Tsukuba, Professor Nagata Kyosuke, which has played important role in the determination of current directions of partnership between the two universities.

                         

As a research university, KazNU actively develops strategic cooperation in the field of science and higher education, closely cooperates with 28 Japanese universities, the Kazakh-Japanese Center for Human Resource Development, the Japanese business community in Kazakhstan, as well as the International Japan Foundation with higher education institutions.

                         

Within the framework of the "Campus-in- Campus" Initiative aimed at increasing the mobility of students and faculty members of the university, in the 2022-2023, 25 students from of KazNU were sent to the University of Tsukuba to study, as well as 19 students from the University of Tsukuba visited the Faculty of Oriental Studies during the winter school. The memorandum between the University of Tsukuba and KazNU was signed within the framework of the QS World University Rankings-2019 Forum, which was held at the university.

                       

"KazNU successfully operates the Faculty of Oriental Studies and the Department of the Far East. Over 30 years of activity of the Department of Japanese Language and Literature, more than two hundred students have acquired Japanese language. Professor Ninomiya Takashi has been teaching Japanese at the faculty for about 10 years" the rector stressed.

                       

In response, Executive Officer of the University of Tsukuba, Professor Ohneda Osamu highly appreciated the infrastructure, landscaping and comfort of the campus. Expressing interest in increasing cooperation and expanding areas of interaction, he put forward a number of proposals and invited the Rector of KazNU to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the University of Tsukuba. Within the framework of the visit, a working meeting of Mr. Ohneda Osamu with the deans of faculties under the "Campus-in-Campus" program is also planned.
