A beach volleyball tournament dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the outstanding poet and public figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Suleimenov has ended at the KazNU named after al-Farabi. The organizers of the large-scale sporting event were KazNU and VC "Burevestnik".

The closing ceremony of the tournament was attended by: poet and public figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Suleimenov, Chairman of the Board-Rector of KazNU Zh.Tuimebayev, Akim of Almaty region Amandyk Batalov, Honored Worker of Kazakhstan Temirkhan Dosmukhambetov, President of IC "Burevestnik" Lieutenant General Amangeldy Shabldarba veterans Amangeldy Kurmanaliev, President of the International Fund of Culture "Alga" Alua Tanzharikova, Honored Master of Sports of Kazakhstan, Honored Coach of the USSR Neilli Shcherbakova, as well as WWII veterans, home front workers and members of the Council of aksakals of KazNU.

Chairman of the Board - Rector of KazNU named after al-Farabi Zhanseit Tuimebayev, addressing the participants of the tournament and guests of the event, congratulated everyone on the Great Victory Day.

“The first President of Kazakhstan-Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev constantly draws attention to the fact that the development of the mass character of sports is one of the strategic priority directions of our state. that our common duty is to develop the sports sphere, which bears the honor and dignity of the country, ”the rector of KazNU emphasized in his speech.

In conclusion, thanking the sports club "Burevestnik" represented by its president Amangeldy Shabdarbayev, rector Zh.Tuimebayev especially noted for the joint holding of the tournament that the total prize fund of 1 million tenge was formed jointly by the university and the sports club and expressed confidence that such tournaments would become kind sports tradition of the university.

Akim of Almaty region Amandyk Batalov, President of SK "Burevestnik" Lieutenant General Amangeldy Shabdarbayev, Honored Master of Sports of Kazakhstan, Honored Coach of the USSR Neilli Shcherbakova also performed at the closing ceremony.

Over 63 amateur teams from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan took part in the tournament, which was held at the KazNU Sports Complex.

As a result, the strongest teams won. Among the women's teams (2x2) the first place was awarded to the team "Talgar-1", among the men (2x2) the team "Charyn" won. In the category of men's and women's teams (4x4), the first place was taken by the teams "Ministry of Internal Affairs" and "Uzbekistan", respectively. The men's team “Burevestnik” also took the first prize in the 4x4 (+40) category. In the 4x4 (+50) category the men's team of O. Suleimenov won.
