At the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, it has become a good tradition to pay special attention to veterans of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers, which contributes to the preservation of historical memory and the continuity of generations. Respectful attitude towards people of the older generation and care for them is the key to the stable development of society. In honor of the Victory Day, the university hosted a charity event "Honor to Veterans".

The main goal of the action is to show care and support to war veterans and home front workers who, together with the soldiers, brought closer and forged this Victory in incredibly difficult conditions. As part of a charitable event organized by the university, special food baskets were presented and material assistance was provided to 121 veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the labor front in the rear, the Afghan war and members of the University Council of Elders.

Bolat Sailan, a lecturer at the Faculty of History of the Kazakh National University, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, thanked the university staff headed by the rector of Al-Farabi KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev for their congratulations and support.

“Today marks the 76th anniversary of the Great Victory. Before the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, many teachers and staff worked at the Kirov Kazakh State University (now Al-Farabi KazNU), and they managed to make a great contribution to the development of science and education. Unfortunately, the ranks of veterans and home front workers who have endured a terrible war on their shoulders are thinning every year. We bow our heads to the unshakable dedication and courage of the older generation, who brought victory in the war closer. I congratulate every family, teachers, colleagues, students and the public on Victory Day, ”said Bolat Sailan, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan.
