Within the framework of the “Spiritual revival” program, the Department of Japanese Studies at Far East Department (Faculty of Oriental Studies), held an extended curatorial hour “The Experience of Academic Mobility".
The Department of Japanese Studies annually sends a number of students and undergraduates to study at universities with which KazNU has signed cooperation contracts, namely, Tsukuba University, Waseda University, Tokyo University of Foreign Languages, Hokkaido University, Saitama University, and the University of Osaka. Students go on various Japanese and English language programs, grants and for certain periods of study.
For the department of Japanese studies it has become a tradition to hold meetings with students who have completed their studies in Japan.
This year the event is held for the second time. For the first time at the beginning of the fall semester, students and undergraduates who returned after an overseas internship told about their trip to students and teachers of the department of Japanese studies, and this time, the students of the 4th year shared their experience.
Madina Moshkal studied for one year under the JE-NIS program at the University of Tsukuba from January 2017 to January 2018. Asel Ualiyeva studied at the University of Hokkaido under the JLCSP program from October 2017 to March 2018. She worked at the University of Hokkaido. Diyar Islambekov was trained at the University of Tsukuba from January 2017 to January 2018 in the English-speaking research program.
The students talked about the benefits of the programs they were trained in, about what they saw and felt when they were in Japan, about their impressions, the difficulties they faced, and gave advice to younger students. After the presentation of each student, the audience was asked different questions.
Recently, contracts have been signed with other universities in Japan. In the future, the students of the department of Japanese studies, of course, will have more chances to study in the Land of the Rising Sun.
