Contrary to the wide spread of the term "foreign internship" it is rather difficult to take part in it, and even more difficult to organize it. But the thorny path did not frighten the Vice Dean for research and innovation activity and international cooperation, Baubekova Almagul Serikovna, the path that separates the first steps towards the formation of a partnership agreement between the al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the University of Salento (Italy) and remote support and assistance in solving unscheduled, emergencies arising during the internship.

In September 2017, work began on the signing of a cooperation agreement, but the expended efforts paid off in the first month. Thanks to Baubekova A.S. and the agreement concluded by her, the al-Farabi Kazakh National University acquired a membership in the international project "INTER-ASIA". It opened the "door" to Italy in front of undergraduate and graduate students of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, in addition to the above universities, the project involved: Jinan University (Guangzhou, PRC), Sari University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (Sari, Iran), National University of Science and Technology (Islamabad, Pakistan) and Tehran University (Tehran, Iran ). On October 11, 2017, registration for participation in the INTER-ASIA international project was closed, the results were announced in early November, in accordance with them, 5 students were selected from each university for a four-month internship in Lecce, Italy. And also 5 students of the Salento University were selected for internship at the Asia Universities.

The international project "INTER-ASIA" is aimed at the development of scientific cooperation between the University of Salento and universities from the Asian region. In the framework of this project, the academic mobility of our students is carried out at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Salento University. The Salento University ranks 251-275 among the Best Universities in the world and the fifth in Italy, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, released in 2015.

For the internship, masters were distributed in the laboratory: "Marine Ecology", "Cell Biology", "Genetics" and "Plant Ecology". Bijanova Nazerke and Utebaeva Gulmira are involved in the activities of the Marine Ecology Laboratory, which is often carried out at the Aquatic Fisheries and Aquaculture Research Center. Tangirbergenova Assem trainees on the basis of the Cell Biology Laboratory and studies the immune cells structure, the macrophages activation pathways and the immune response of the inflammatory process. Baizhigitova Diana participates in the experimental study of piRNA pathways in processes that lead to a violation of the genome stability within the framework of the Genetics Laboratory. Mamirova Aigerim joined the collegial staff of the Plant Ecology Laboratory during the period of her internship, which studies the Olea europaea protection system in interaction with Xylella fastidiosa, namely, the correlation of the azelaic acid concentration in response to infection with the above bacterium, which, due to its ubiquity and the high level of danger was called "olive leprosy". The laboratories of the Salento University are equipped with all the necessary advanced equipment, which contributes to the productive research work not only of the laboratory members, but also of our students.
