Presentation of bilingual Kazakh-Hindi and Hindi-Kazakh vocabulary

On January 31, 2018 with the participation of the rector of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University Galym Mutanov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Kazakhstan Shri Prabhat Kumar, a solemn presentation of the result of the work of four specialists of the Middle East and South Asia Department of Oriental Studies faculty was held. In the creation of a bilingual Kazakh-Hindi and Hindi-Kazakh dictionary participated: senior lecturer Z.E. Iskakova, PhD Dr. S.Dosova, Ph.D., associate professor D.M. Kokeeva, PhD B.S. Bokuleva.

The dictionary contains more than 5000 words of modern literary Hindi and more than 3000 words of the Kazakh language. The dictionary presents socio-political, cultural, artistic, household vocabulary. In addition, in the articles of words you can see the grammatical features and etymology of translated words.

Bilingual Kazakh-Hindi and Hindi-Kazakh dictionary is intended for translators, students and other students of Hindi.

The presentation was timed to the official visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Kazakhstan Sri Prabhat Kumar and it was another positive event in the series of events organized by the Department of Indology of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, which fostered the further development of fruitful bilateral interaction in the field of education, science and culture.

The rector of al-Farabi Kazakh National University Galym Mutanov proudly noted that the Kazakh-Hindi and Hindi-Kazakh dictionary is the only edition of its kind, since only Russian-Hindi and Hindi-Russian dictionaries have been published so far. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sri Prabhat Kumar, in his turn highly appreciated this fact as a great contribution to the mutual exchange of cultural values between the two nations.
