On April 12, an online conference "Globalization of Kazakhstan-Iran Relations: Cultural and Spiritual ties" was held by the Department of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University jointly with the Humanities Faculty of the  Tarbiat-e modarres University of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Al-Farabi KazNU has won an international project funded by Erasmus+ from 15.10.2016 till 14.10.2019 and performed in collaboration with 14 foreign universities and organizations. The project’s aim is to develop and improve educational programs in information literacy and academic writing of students, young scientists and teachers in English. Working closely with the Coordinating organisation KazNU will participate in working groups and form local committee structures, to ensure the dissemination of project results and the implementation of project initiatives in KazNU, in other Kazakhstan universities and in society at large.

In Almaty on April 15, 2017, a citywide urdan work day was held. The urban work day was attended by students of Information Systems and Automation and Control specialties. 

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University students won 3 place in team classification at the Republican student subject Olympiad in specialty "Mathematics"

 The Council of Young Scientists of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University together with UN Women Multi-Country Office for Central Asia in support of the HeForShe Movement and within the framework of the International Conference of Students and Young Scientists “Farabi Alemi” held on April 12, 2017 the Public Speaking Competition on the topic “How do I see the world for women?”.

On April 14, 2017, the Information Systems Department jointly with the KazNU library held a meeting with the "Zhastar" theater of Astana. The creative head of the theater Nurkanat Zhakypbai and his students came to the meeting. The meeting took place in a free format, in the form of an open interview.

International scientific conference of students and young scientists "Farabi alemi" takes place on 10-12 April 2017 at the Higher School of Economics and Business.

On April 11, 2017, the Department of Information Systems within the framework of the agreement signed by al-Farabi KazNU and Kaspersky Lab, the Center "Information Security" on the basis of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics held a training seminar "Kaspersky day". More than 80 students and teachers took part in the event. During the training, several competitions were organized, in which the undergraduates of the information security system took the first place by collecting 765 points out of a possible 800.
