Poetry - the music of the soul!

Poetry - the music of the soul!

The literary and artistic journal "Prostor," in collaboration with the Creative Association "Slovo," hosted the Festival of Poetry and Music "The Space of Autumn Beauty" on October 14, 2023, at 14:00, in the building of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan. The concert featured poets and authors from the journal "Prostor": Adolf Artsishevsky, Sagin-Girey Baymenov, Nikolay Zaytsev, Lyubov Shashkova, Olga Shilenko, as well as members of the poetry, romance, and original song club "Tonika," the "Retro" club, and a quartet of flutists.

The weather that day was overcast, but that didn't stop us. Bundled up warmly, we made our way to the venue. There, we were greeted by a magnificent building in the style of classic Stalinist architecture, an architectural marvel in white and green tones with golden elements. Its history dates to 1955. It is said that initially it housed the Ministry of Meat and Dairy Industry of the Kazakh SSR, then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and only later did the Union of Writers of the Kazakh SSR move into this building. Today, above the entrance, "Administration of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan" is engraved in two languages. We, first-year students of the publishing faculty of the journalism department of KazNU, came here at the invitation of our teacher Larisa Ivanovna Mukhamadieva. Since it was an off-site meeting of our scientific and creative circle "LZS" (Life of Remarkable Students, formerly "Gutenberg"), we also got acquainted with other club members. We entered the building and were not disappointed. Inside was no less beautiful than outside. We climbed the stairs and entered the conference hall. Finely crafted portraits of great figures such as Shokan Ualikhanov, Abai Kunanbayev, and others looked at us with interest and friendliness. At the entrance to the hall, we were greeted by the organizer of this event - Vladimir Gaichenya. The concert began, and everyone directed their attention to the stage. In general, if we talk about the overall structure, the concert proceeded in the following format: a poet would come on stage and recite verses, then there would be a musical interlude. It was very pleasant to get acquainted with domestic poets and listen to live music. Each author was remembered thanks to the musical number that followed them. Two themes, poetry and music wonderfully complemented each other.

From the stage, original poems, works by Pushkin and Tsvetaeva, resounded. The themes were diverse, but the main one among them was, of course, "Autumn." At some point, due to some technical difficulties, the organizer himself came on stage and read his poems. Vladimir appeared before us as an extremely cheerful person with a creative soul.

Each musical number was unique and kept us engaged. The first to perform was a quartet of flutists, consisting of young people about our age, which somehow brought us closer together and distinguished this performance from the others. The musicians performed in pairs, solo, and accompanied by an acoustic guitar. All the voices touched our souls, and we won't soon forget such a performance.

The impressions the evening gave us were the most unforgettable. We are very pleased with the opportunity provided to us. For some of us, this was our first concert of this kind. We gained valuable knowledge, as well as a lot of fun, got to know interesting personalities, and simply had a great time together. We hope that in the future we will be able to attend such cultural events more often. After all, it's not just a concert, it's the cultural upbringing of our soul and mind.

Impressions from the concert, first-year students of the publishing faculty: Leila Abilmalik and Aruzhan Zulfar.
