A well-known Russian scientist visited the department under the program of attracting foreign scholars

Under the Program for attracting foreign scientists to teaching activities, a senior researcher at the Institute of Geology and Mineralogy named after I. V.S. Sobolev of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk), Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Konstantin Aleksandrovich Kokh held at the al-Farabi KazNU, practical works.

Kokh K.E. is a co-author of two scientific articles in the journal "Nature", and a laureate of the President of the Russian Federation in the field of science and innovation for young scientists. Author of research on the development of methods for the preparation of chalcogenide compounds and the creation of functional crystals for high-tech devices. One of the leading scientists in the field of methods for producing new inorganic compounds and growing crystals for nonlinear optics and other fields of application. A significant part of his work is occupied by new methods of crystal growth in solid-phase state, the study of the physicochemical properties of the processes of growing inorganic crystals. He has published over 216 original scientific articles in high impact factor journals. H citation index for his works is 29 according to the Scopus database.

During his visit to al-Farabi KazNU, joint research with the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry was carried out in the field of chemical technology of inorganic materials, namely, the growth of new crystals on an experimental setup for crystal growth. Consultations were held for graduate and doctoral students.
