We invite you to participate in the international interdisciplinary online conference "the LEGACY of AL-FARABI in the LIGHT of the THESIS of the RENAISSANCE of PHILOSOPHICAL KNOWLEDGE", held as part of the events dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of the great thinker of the East Abu Nasr al-Farabi.
The conference is organized by al-Farabi Kazakh national University and the Korean scientific and technical society " Kahak "and will be held on may 20-21, 2020 using the Zoom platform. The conference starts on may 20, 2020 at 14.00. The link for participation will be sent out on may 20, 2020 around 12.00.

The main objective of the conference is to ensure the consolidation of the scientific and technical community in order to find an adequate response to the current and expected crises.

Consolidation of domestic science and non-biological methods of protection, the effectiveness of which does not depend on virus mutations, should become one of the main ones in the fight against coronavirus. This is our conversation with doctor of chemical Sciences, academician of the National engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor G.A. Mun.
– Against the evils caused by today's epidemiological crisis, in fact, only doctors, epidemiologists and virologists are fighting, - says the Professor – - Paying due respect to the heroic efforts of doctors and virologists, many of whom literally risk their lives performing their professional duties in various regions of the world, we can not but admit that their efforts alone are clearly not enough. In the context of the state of emergency imposed in Kazakhstan in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, there is no doubt that the scientific community of our country is simply obliged to concentrate efforts in the fight against this evil. The world is facing not just another outbreak of mutagenic infection – we are already talking about an epidemiological crisis, where real threats to public health, economic and geopolitical problems are intertwined in a tight tangle. And in such circumstances, the final word in the search for an answer should belong to scientists. After all, science – that is, the social institution through which modern civilization exists – was created so that man could resist the destructive forces of nature.
Science and higher education: in the search of answers to the global epidemiological crisis
On April 12, 2020, the international online conference "Science and higher education: in the search of answers to the challenge of the global epidemiological crisis" was held, dedicated to the day of Science.
The conference was organized by:
- National engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan,
- Al-Farabi Kazakh national University,
- Korean scientific and technical society "Kahak",
- Assembly of the peoples of Eurasia.
The conference was dedicated to finding adequate answers to the numerous challenges faced by the EEU States in the context of a large-scale epidemiological crisis.
The President of the National engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Deputy of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, doctor of physical and mathematical Sciences, academician B. T. Zhumagulov addressed the participants of the conference.
In his speech, he called on the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Elbasy N. Nazarbayev, to show restraint and will in overcoming the common misfortune in these difficult days of the pandemic, quoting key provisions from the address "When we are together - we are invincible".

The al-Farabi Kazakh national University hosted an international scientific and practical conference "Modernization of engineering and technical education in the Central Asian region under the conditions of digitalization", organized by the Kazakhstan Association of engineering education and the countries participating in the Khojent agreement (KazSEE). Opening of the Kazakhstan-China
Joint Laboratory for Drug Research
Within the framework of international cooperation of the research center of medicinal plants of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Xinjiang Technical Physical and Chemical Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences are opening a Kazakhstan-China Joint Laboratory for Drug Research.
The Joint laboratory is located in the Research Center of Medicinal Plants of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to perform the tasks of the Joint laboratory attracts the potential of the Central Asian center for research and development of medicines of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and together with them expands the activities of the Joint laboratory. Research institutes involved:
- Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences;
- Dalian Institute of chemistry and physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences;
- Kunmin Botanical Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences;
- Institute of Physics and Chemistry of Lanzhou, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The purpose of the Joint laboratory is to create new original and generic drugs in demand in China and Kazakhstan, using the potential of Institutes and world scientific achievements in the development of drugs.
The Kazakhstan-China Joint Laboratory for Drug Research will be engaged in advanced basic research to develop safe and effective phytomedical products for the treatment of common diseases in China and Kazakhstan based on local raw materials and knowledge.
The Laboratory will also work on targeted projects to develop herbal supplements in the local and global market. The Laboratory will make a huge contribution to the formation of research culture and increase the research profile of al-Farabi Kazakh National University and the Xinjiang Physical and Chemical Technical Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The opening ceremony of the Laboratory will be held on November 26, 2019 at the faculty of chemistry and chemical technology of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
