On December 10, 2018 in the rector's office at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was held ceremony of awarding scholarships JSC "Shinhan Bank Kazakhstan" in Almaty. Seven students who had a high GPA, as well as low-income families of Department of the Far East of the Oriental Studies Faculty of KazNU received scholarships in the amount of 110 000 tenge (770 000 tenge). The scholarships were awarded by Jaksykeldinov Nariman Maksutovich, Managing Director of JSC “Shinhan Bank Kazakhstan”.

This event is supported by the foundation "Hope" established in 1996 at the headquarters of the Shinhan Bank, located in Seoul. Since 1996 it has been involved in providing assistance in the field of science, culture and creative activities, including the provision of scholarships to students around the world. For the last 10 years, JSC "Shinhan Bank Kazakhstan" has provided financial support to students studying in the Oriental Studies Faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The huge contribution in the form of annual student scholarships is a great incentive for learning, popularizing Korean studies and enhancing the image of Korea in Kazakhstan.

Every year, students of Department of the Far East undergo professional practice at JSC "Shinhan Bank Kazakhstan", which is also one of the excellent bases for practical training.We are sure that this event raises students' interest in Korean studies, as well as develops and strengthens cooperation in the field of education and science between KazNU and JSC "Shinhan Bank Kazakhstan". We congratulate our students-fellows and wish them to become highly qualified specialists, confident in their knowledge and their future.
